Do I need a visa to visit Namibia?

If the country of your nationality is listed below, you do not require a visa to travel to Namibia for a tourist visit of up to 90 days.

All other nationalities must apply for a visa before they travel to Namibia. Visas are not issued at the border. You can apply for a single-entry visa at Namibian embassies abroad and at the Namibia Tourist Office branches in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

With your application, you must submit the following documents:

  • Passport valid for at least another 12 months after your departure from Namibia

  • Two color passport-sized photos

  • Completed application form

  • Certified copy of your return airline ticket or proof of onward travel


You can download the appplication form from the website of the Namibian embassy in Sweden. Note that this is a PDF document, it requires Acrobat Reader to open.

Officially, the visa application procedure requires seven days to process. The fee stands at around US$55 for a standard, single-entry visa.

You can have your visa "upgraded" to multiple-entry at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Windhoek.
